I COME TO CALL A FUCKING OF INTRO

For a sunny Saturday and a few hours before their concert at the Golden Arrow I meet both of the Zulu group of electro-pop / rock Call Me Senor at an outdoor cafe. On their first EP, Oh La La , we already felt the energy of Alex (guitar) and JB (vocals), it is the same IRL, judge by yourself.

music behind it is for girls or nab it has always been part of your lives?

Alex I pick more girls before they make music.
JB: The same, we had more time to nab the girls before. We always listened to a lot of music and after a while you ask yourself the question if it would be interesting to do, to pass the course. You're a music fan, you've got posters in your room and you think it would be cool to try to do.
Alex For some it is their parents who push them when we come to it ourselves, we instinctively did not try to take other groups, were taught himself to compose each on our side.

Call Me Before Senor, you were part of The Victorians from 2004 to 2007, when the battery excitement around the "revival of the French rock scene" , you keep what memory?

JB: We it was more withdrawn, due to our sound, there was a lot of stuff that sounded very Libertines, Strokes very , it was a little, because it was in the zeitgeist, clearly we were all inspired by that, but with The Victorians, in As we went on a frenzy a little Brit-pop, big fan of Oasis, Blur of , things like that, so we were both in the thing in and lag behind the others.
Alex After the phenomenon, of course us it bother us a bit to be involved immediately to groups that were not the same style of music. But we can not deny that it has created a craze and it allowed us to go play in England, which would never have happened otherwise. It was with this excitement that some groups have had the chance to go to England to have documentaries on them etc.. It's hard to complain when it brings you this kind of thing. But it's true that it was a bit horrible these evenings "Put your tray " We already had it for a while, it was a mismatch. In addition, there was not the same sound we were looking over, already, the melody, we continued with Call me Senor and what has been perfected in this group there, while the other was more the rage, balance 2 / 3 agreements and much energy, how being on stage.

I understand that you did not like that you speak of "Paris scene," Can you explain why?

JB: For me, it's because the Paris scene is not particularly exciting right now.
Alex: It depends When you refer.
JB: Yeah , but here in Paris, there may be one or two groups that can excite us ...
Alex And we play with them tonight! ( Sourya and Neimo , ed)
JB: And we play with them tonight yeah, but otherwise it is not something exciting, it was clearly not want to be anchored in a movement that is not necessarily that we like and is a little sleepy right now. Admittedly, it is very Parisian right now on our concerts, our sound, because in any way that nourishes us is this city, at least in part. We are in a period in Paris, but in terms we will try to play up abroad. This is the goal, especially for 2011.
Alex The trick is that when you are associated with a current, it is easy to generalize and say: " anyway it happened, that's no, they do not reinvent themselves, they do the same thing . The other thing is to read articles and debates in Rock'n'Folk & Co: they take a group at random at the time we were talking they took Naast , they hit him like crazy and now they say "yeah maybe c was not so bad, we should not have to go too hard on them . It's a bit abused to currents, to choose one of the muse to then enter it until they stop the music. The Naast they were kids back then, they had what, 17? It's not cool to do that. So we preferred to differentiate themselves from the outset.

JB you said that the Paris scene is not very exciting right now, for you what scene today is?

Alex: No London anyway ... It must be LA, but it pisses!
JB: No, but example recently in New York there are pretty cool stuff ...
Alex That's not bad breath since 2007 which, at the thee times 30 groups which were all good and after loving you or love you less, now it's a bit hard, there are 10 albums, there are 2 that you listen in full what.
JB: There is stuff like the rapper Das Racist makes me laugh, it is part of Boy Crisis is stuff that amuse me and plug.
Alex: There's the Raveonettes too, which is what Swedes, Norwegians? (Danish, ed)
JB: There's no real city that industry in particular, perhaps it will be with Paris next stage, I do not know.

You are a group Parisian French, so why sing in English?

JB: Precisely because it is French, Paris and all, but it is a way to reject this stuff in Paris and especially not register in there. We want good, strictly speaking, be regarded abroad as French, it gets a little funny, it gives you a little exotic.
Alex: As is mostly distributed on the label Shakermaker , which is a digital label, it's just a shame to be limited to France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, what it feels light.
JB: England is something that shakes us and which we would like to address
Alex It allows us to work to be listenable and readable text, more than the Paris group that will just make a best of words of Iggy Pop, of Beatles or Stones with the same rhyme all the time, where you are able to finish the sentence after the preceding rhyme, even though this is the first time you listen to the song. That way we could pass for a group not in Paris, perhaps.

Call Me Senor where it comes from, it's a trip you or there is a real explanation behind?

Alex: It's a trip us, we did it together, we have five names on tripp enough idiots, and we chose this one. Especially because you have two English words, a word in English, it went well with our idea to cover their tracks.

level composition how it goes?

Alex Either we do everything together every two or, what has most recently spent his JB wrote a song or I write and then we will pass to another.
JB: Or we the two ends to be sure to agree on everything.
Alex It was part of a group before the Victorians , So that's seven, eight years we are in the same groups
JB: we made music together, we know to death. And interest, since we're only two, we're going super fast. The filter is just for the songs they like both and in this case we pass directly to the next step.
Alex It allows you to write faster but also more tiring, it was expected. At first it's super exciting, you can control almost the entire "supply chain", we decided to do everything alone but there's times when it's hard.

To the scene is some good feelings, or you scared?

JB: Recently for me, the scene is really just become a moment of pleasure, and less and less scared. It's more so something that I fear there are some dates where there are challenges, but for us the challenge will increasingly be in writing the song. Finally I see him like that, there which I stress is to write the ultimate song. On stage we have fun in general.
Alex is repeated a lot to be square, square, square, all the time. After the first goal in concert is not necessarily that people listen to your songs, but obviously if that's why you got the support from you, the most important thing above all that they have a good time. We tend not to play the acoustic live, tonight for example it will not do it, do we really want a set of 40 minutes where people go to dance, have fun and go. In general there is live music on Friday Saturday night, whether at Bus Palladium or Arrow, you're really there to make you happy but mostly to please people. You can have I would not say it breaks-sound, problems, if you ever insured, you spend a good time and people marrent too, the evening is saved and programmers in general are very happy with it . Now we do something more electronic with this group is very easy to track, live less, especially two, we would have many machines, many people. So we changed a bit, the guitars are different, there are voices that have changed, choruses and everything, so it's more a new experience is more suited to the scene. We we know them by heart the songs so it's more fun to play differently on stage.

Do you manage to live today for your music?

JB : We had a month or two at this rate it would be good. Here we are in preparation, it's a bit weird to explain, but we took our time a little. At first we did not Indeed, and we saw the need perhaps to take it. The trigger will be 2011, if there is one, for now we take our time, we do not have a lot of concerts, we write, we try to attract attention, then we'll see.
Alex is also the difference from all groups from before. Previously, we tended to do lots of concerts, there's true that if we did a concert every night, everywhere in France, just enough to pay and go, we could, but it has done with our groups, you cheeks cheeks cheeks and in the end you have two, three articles. While there was initially released product, we'll come out a second, we try to do things in order, with people we like to be sure of the result. Taking our time we end up saving time. (laughter) You can put it in bold! And in Paris, even when your group is working well you can not do a show a week is the max one per month, if people do not come, that's about what we do now .

Your best concert as a spectator?
JB: Recently, Foals in Manchester, I love the second album and the first, and then be surrounded by English for a packed rock concert is just great!
Alex: I it back! It's been three years since I did not go to concert in Paris. Kasabian, I had seen them several times, because we're really a fan, and I had seen a particular time in London, one of the last concerts they had changed many things, so they had singers. and the first part was chanmée too.

Alex The sound installation is not egg but I like the Baron .
JB: I would love to play in Moune , I like the small stuff .
The best concert hall?
Alex Where we dreamed of playing? La Cigale or Olympia, rooms that have not yet done, which are already more prestigious, but otherwise in theaters where they played: Social Club, Point Instant , Arrow Gold . The Golden Arrow the room is beautiful, the sound is good, you can have a public hearing.
